Working in both steel and wood, Scott creates functional art inspired by traditional craftsmanship and the natural world. Every piece is made by hand in his home workshop using a combination of forging, bladesmithing, woodturning, and hand-finishing techniques. Natural materials—including hardwoods, antler, bone, and stone—are selected for their individual beauty and incorporated into designs that celebrate their unique character rather than conceal it. Whether crafting a forged knife, a stone blade, or a turned pen, Scott strives to create heirloom-quality pieces that are both beautiful and meant to be used. No two pieces are ever exactly alike.
Forged Knives
Scott handcrafts each knife from raw steel using traditional forging and stock-removal techniques in his home forge. Every blade is individually shaped, ground, and hand-finished before being fitted with a one-of-a-kind handle.
Handle materials are selected for their natural beauty and character and include locally sourced hardwoods, antler, bone, and other natural materials. Each handle is individually shaped on a lathe or by hand, then carefully fitted and finished for balance, comfort, and durability.
His work ranges from outdoor and hunting knives to culinary knives and utility blades. No two knives are identical; each piece reflects the unique grain, color, and texture of the natural materials used.
Primitive Stone Knives
These pieces combine traditional stone knapping with handcrafted natural handles inspired by prehistoric and Indigenous toolmaking traditions.
Scott uses hand-knapped obsidian or glass blades created by percussion and pressure flaking techniques that create exceptionally sharp cutting edges. The blades are mounted into naturally shaped antler, bone, or hardwood handles and secured with hand-wrapped fiber cordage.
Each knife celebrates ancient craftsmanship while remaining a fully functional contemporary work of art. Because every stone blade fractures differently and every natural handle is unique, each piece is entirely one of a kind.
Damascus Knives
Scott creates Damascus-style knives featuring patterned steel that showcases flowing layered designs unique to each blade.
Every knife is individually shaped, ground, polished, and finished before being fitted with carefully selected hardwood handles. Natural woods are chosen to complement the pattern of the steel, emphasizing both beauty and functionality.
These knives are designed as heirloom-quality pieces that combine craftsmanship, performance, and artistic expression.
Hand-Turned Pens
Each pen begins as a carefully selected piece of natural hardwood chosen for its distinctive grain, color, and figure.
Scott turns every pen on a wood lathe, individually shaping, sanding, and polishing each blank to produce a smooth, comfortable writing instrument that highlights the beauty of the wood. Multiple coats of finish protect the surface while preserving the natural character of the material.
Because each piece of wood is unique, every pen is one of a kind.
Hand-Turned Keychains
Scott hand-turns each keychain on a wood lathe from carefully selected hardwoods, creating functional everyday objects that showcase the natural beauty of wood.
Each piece is individually shaped, sanded, and finished to highlight the grain and character of the material before being fitted with durable hardware. Their compact size makes them ideal gifts while reflecting the same attention to detail found in his larger works.
